SECOND LETTER OF JOHN, Bible Study

INTRODUCTION

The Second Letter of John (Jn = 2), unlike the first, has the characteristics of letters formulas of antiquity (see Introduction to letters).
The author calls himself "the elder" without further specification. The letter is addressed to an unidentified community, but only a symbolic title designated (v. 1 note b).

The brief, very brief, refers to brotherly love, and also to the true faith in Jesus Christ against false teachers who had already begun to appear. These are issues more fully treated in the First Letter of John (see Introduction to 1 John ).

The letter announces an author's personal visit to the community. It seems unlikely that 2 John was sent to the same church recipient of the first.

As for the order in which these three letters were written, there is clear evidence.

Greeting 1

1 The elder to the community chosen by God and those who belong to it. b I really love, and not only I, but also all who know the truth. 
2 I love you because of the truth that we our heart and will be with us forever.
3 May God the Father, and Jesus Christ Son of the Father, shed His grace upon you and give mercy and peace, in truth and love.


The commandment of love

4 I was delighted to find some of your living according to the truth, c as the Father commanded us. 
5 Now, dear brethren, that we should love one another. d This I am writing not as a new commandment, but that which we received from the beginning. 
6 GOD´s love is to live according to the commandments of God, and the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, is that you live in love. f


True faith in Jesus Christ

7 They go around the world many deceivers who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ came as a real man. That is, is the deceiver and the antichrist. g 
8 Be careful not to lose the result of our work, but to take and receive your full reward.

9 Anyone who intends to go beyond what Christ taught, not God, but he who abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. h 
10 If you are visited by anyone that doesn´t teach what Christ taught, do not receive him in your home nor say anything, 
11 for he who greets them will be complicit in their evil deeds. i


Farewell

12 I have much to say, but I will do so by letter. I hope to come to you and talk to you personally, j so that our joy may be complete.

13 Those who belong to this community, your sister, also chosen by God, I greet you. k

Saneando el corazón

Crea en mí, oh Dios, un corazón limpio, Y renueva un espíritu recto dentro de mí. Jesús, ¡quiero conocerte!

Me buscarán y me encontrarán cuando me busquen de todo corazón. (Jeremías 29:13) Muchos saben sobre la vida de Jesús y sus milagros principales, pero pocos lo conocen a él de verdad. Conocer a Jesús va más allá de saber quién es él. No se le puede conocer sin buscarlo de verdad. Aquel que busca su presencia en espíritu y en verdad lo encontrará (Juan 4:23-24). Conocer a Jesús es andar según su Palabra y ser un imitador suyo (1 Corintios 11:1). Más que querer o decir palabras, es necesario actuar, decidir. Cuando buscamos a Jesús de todo corazón, él se nos revela. Esa cercanía con él transforma nuestra vida. Si aún no has tenido esa experiencia, búscala. ¡Jesús también desea conocerte! Conociendo a Jesús Para conocer a Jesús, lo primero que necesitas hacer es invitarle. Abre tu corazón y deja que Jesús entre en tu vida. Esperanza renovada cada mañana

Oh Jehová, ten misericordia de nosotros, a ti hemos esperado; tú, brazo de ellos en la mañana, sé también nuestra salvación en tiempo de la tribulación. (Isaías 33:2) Este versículo resuena en nuestros corazones como un soplo de esperanza. El profeta Isaías nos recuerda que no estamos solos. Tenemos un Dios que ve, que escucha y que actúa con misericordia. Esperar en Dios no es pasividad: es fe activa. Es mirar hacia arriba cuando todo a nuestro alrededor se derrumba. Es saber que, aunque no veamos salida, él ya está obrando a nuestro favor. Sus misericordias son nuevas cada mañana, y con ellas recibimos fuerza para otro día. Quizás estés enfrentando luchas que parecen superar tus fuerzas. Pero recuerda: Dios es tu fortaleza. Él no te exige que camines solo.
